Welcome to PH&N Investment Perspectives, 2026 edition

Welcome to our 2026 seminar site! This year’s presentations are again driven by what we have heard from clients and what we see in the markets. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to discuss any of the content. Also, we invite you to provide feedback so we can keep improving, and to submit your vote to help us direct our PH&N Investment Perspectives-inspired community donations for 2026. Of course, if you have any questions, we invite you to contact your institutional portfolio manager or email us at institutions@phn.com.

We look forward to welcoming you again next year.

The changing global order – Through an economic lens

The geopolitical environment is undergoing rapid, transformative change, bringing with it a range of economic and financial market implications. As the prior rules-based order transforms into a less predictable and more dangerous power-based order, defense spending, protectionism, and nationalism are on the rise. Increasingly, the world’s great powers are focusing attention within their own spheres of influence, witness the U.S.’s new, more assertive approach in the Western Hemisphere. In this environment, Canada faces both opportunities and challenges but, as a relatively small power on the global stage, will likely find the latter outweigh the former.

10:05 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

4PM – 5:30PM

A quarter century in review: Themes that shaped institutional portfolios

What are the themes and forces that shaped institutional portfolios over the past 25 years? We will review the rise of private markets and the evolution in public markets along with lessons learned from this period that can help inform strategic decision-making for institutional investors going forward.

Community engagement

First and foremost, PH&N Investment Perspectives is about connections:

Connecting with our clients and industry colleagues (in person when possible, of course!);
Connecting portfolio challenges to solutions, through thoughtful presentations and publications; and
Extending our connection with you into the local community where your employees, beneficiaries and constituents live and operate.

During the global pandemic, we lost the opportunity to travel to communities across the country and connect in person. As a result, we took the opportunity to engage at the community level by donating to local organizations whose missions resonated with our (then virtual) attendees.

Since then, we have continued and expanded the tradition. Today, in partnership with RBC Foundation, our cumulative "PIP"-inspired community support exceeds $582,500 for 85 initiatives organizations across the country. Listening to what matters to our participants helps us select relevant seminar topics, improves the discussion at our events, and helps us direct the event-associated community engagement. In aggregate, over five years, our donations have been allocated as shown in the chart.

Please complete the feedback survey after the seminar. This is where we will invite you to provide your comments about this year’s seminar, suggest topics for future seminars, and indicate the community-based mission most important to you.

Thank you for your time, curiosity and questions.
